New Leadership Appointments to the royal Privy Council of Bhutan

The Royal Privy Council of Bhutan is honored to announce the appointment of two distinguished individuals to its leadership:

  • Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji as Chairperson
  • Dasho Kesang Wangdi as Deputy Chairperson

These esteemed appointments were solemnized through the conferment of Dakyens by His Majesty the King on May 8, 2024, corresponding to the 30th day of the 3rd Month of the Wood Male Dragon Year 2024.

About the Appointees

Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji, Chairperson

Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A graduate of the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune (December 1976), he served with distinction in the Royal Bhutan Army for 30 years. His exemplary service was recognized with the conferment of the red scarf by His Majesty the King in 2009.

Dasho Kesang Wangdi, Deputy Chairperson

Dasho Kesang Wangdi’s appointment follows an illustrious career spanning over 37 years in the Civil Service. His extensive experience includes serving as Ambassador and Cabinet Secretary of Bhutan, positions that have prepared him well for his new role in the Privy Council.

The Royal Privy Council extends its warmest congratulations to Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji and Dasho Kesang Wangdi on their appointments. We are confident that their leadership will further strengthen our institution’s ability to serve the Crown and the people of Bhutan.
